Mr Gavin Bartlett is friendly and clear, offering thorough explanations to patients. Individuals report confidence in his hip replacement procedures, experiencing pain reduction, improved mobility, and good scar healing, with operations feeling less frightening than anticipated. The excellent team and comfortable hospital environment support patients in achieving a quick recovery. These positive results primarily address hip conditions, including arthritis, aiming to resolve associated pain and discomfort.
My experience was very good Mr Bartlett’s explanations were thorough and put my mind at rest.
My stay at the duchy was excellent in all aspects. The staff are friendly and helpful, very clean everywhere and food is lovely. I was made comfortable for the duration of my stay .
Mr Barlett was very helpful and understanding of my need for a second hip replacement. As with my previous replacement he answered all of my questions, explained everything thoroughly and gave me the confidence in him to look after me a second time.
My experience has been that Mr Bartlett listened to me well throughout the whole process. He clearly described what had happened and what the process was for a recovery following a total hip replacement. He was realistic about the kind of outcome I might have which included a reduction of pain and improved mobility. I found him to be attentive to my needs and reassuring. I found the operation to be less frightening than I had expected, and my fears of being given a spinal anaesthesia unfounded. As I write this 8 weeks on from my operation I am struck by how quickly the pain and initial discomfort has diminished, and how quickly the body recovers from a major trauma. I am pain free and to be without the pain of arthritis is a relief, it enables me to return to living rather than existing. The care I received from the team was excellent, I felt cared for and well looked after.
Everything was excellent apart from the time scale of being fit and well after my operation. I was told 6 weeks and then I was told another 6 weeks. Just a bit confusing that’s all. All staff and Drs were very professional, even the cleaning ladies. Thank you to all of you involved in my care.
Very pleased with how my visit went. Everything was clearly explained and I had a very thorough examination. A very good experience.

Thank you for your positive feedback.
Mr Bartlett was very pleasant during my follow up appointment. He offered me the opportunity to ask any questions I might have and he answered them clearly.
When I had my initial consultation I found Mr Barlett rather brusque and I was upset by the somewhat negative picture he painted. However, both pre-operation and the day after my opinion changed and I had absolute confidence in him. Today on my post operation concsultation he was kind and positive. I must say too as a surgeon I believe he did an awesome job - and I meant to comment that my scar - after 7 weeks is almost invisible.
I have met Mr Bartlett previously for the same problem with my left hip. I was very happy with all treatment and results, so chose to be referred to him again. Everything was explained to me very clearly and kindly. I am feeling positive about my upcoming surgery.
