Mr Holton completed his medical training in 2002 at the University of Leeds Medical School before undertaking basic surgical training and joining the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2005. He went on to complete further specialist orthopaedic training and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2012. He has undertaken extensive training in his field, including a specialist international hip fellowship in Denmark, which allowed him to gain further exposure to hip replacement and hip arthroscopy, and he gained expertise in minimally invasive PAO (peri-acetabular osteotomy) under the world-renowned PAO surgeon, Prof. Kjeld Soballe. Prior to his Danish fellowship, he also undertook a nationally recognised fellowship under Mr Jon Conroy in Harrogate, UK, which focused on hip arthroscopy and total hip replacement
In addition to his practice, Mr Holton is active in the field of research, with a strong research background founded on his MSc (Mechanical Engineering), where he investigated the use of bone graft in total hip replacement in 2012. He also supervises an NIHR-approved research fellow whilst being the principal investigator on three NIHR-approved national studies.

Mr Holton was very professional, easy to talk to. I highly recommend him. I have had a total hip replacement in my late 40s, performed by Mr Holton, who has been able to explain things clearly, very supportive particularly in the hospital on day of the op and the following days, and has been straight with me about expected recovery times.
He listened to my worries about overdoing things and was reassuring.
I have had a hip replacement which involved a pre op consultation, a hospital stay and operation and a post op review with Mr Holton. He was very professional and explained the procedures etc very clearly. throughout which made the whole experience more reassuring. My appointments were all on time, and I felt I was given all the information I needed to make the decision to have the operation.
I recently underwent a hip arthroscopy performed by Mr Holton and have been extremely pleased with the care and treatment I received. From the initial consultation through to the surgery and follow-up appointments, Mr Holton was professional, knowledgeable, and reassuring. The procedure went smoothly, and my recovery has progressed well, with a significant improvement in my symptoms and mobility. I am very grateful for the excellent care provided and would highly recommend Mr Holton to anyone considering hip surgery.
I was very well looked after at every stage from initial consultation to procedure and discharge. I'm currently just 7 weeks post op and already feel the benefits of the hip replacement. In fact I have just completed my first workout in many months which is remarkable considering the amount of pain and reduced mobility that I had before. I would advise anyone having this procedure to follow the post op instructions. It really does work!
I had a hip replacement surgery with Mr Holton on the 29th of August 2025. Since this surgery I have had zero complications with anything and the surgery has genuinely changed my life as I have suffered from a hip condition since I was a young child. Thank you very much Mr Holton.
I was very happy with the care I received throughout my investigation and surgery. Mr Holton is very knowledgeable, approachable and took the time to listen to my concerns, which helped me feel reassured and confident in the treatment I was receiving. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt well looked after throughout the process.
From the first appointment he reassured me that the procedure would alter the way I was living. I had right hip replacement done first and the whole experience was very smooth. A year later when my left was causing a lot of pain I went back with full confidence and had that one replaced too. The difference is amazing.
Mr Holton is a very experiencedand highly skilled hip surgeon who strives to achieve the best results for his patients.
