I'm a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon. My sub-specialist interest is primary (first time), complex and revision (or redo) hip and knee replacements. Additionally, I treat painful hips and knees with injections and perform knee arthroscopies.
After completing my training in Yorkshire, I undertook two years of specialist fellowships. The first, as the John Charnley fellow at Wrightingon Hospital, under Professor Peter Kay and Professor Martin Porter. Thereafter I was the British Orthopaedic Association Transitional Fellow in Airedale. I am now a consultant in Barnsley where I am also clinical lead.
I have recently been awarded a doctorate in which I studied leg length inequality following total hip replacement. I have numerous presentations and publications primarily on leg length inequality following hip replacements but also on the medico-legal aspects of hip and knee replacements.
I remain actively involved in research both in Barnsley and at the NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Unit where I am a Visiting Senior Fellow.
I also have an interest in sports medicine. I am a lead doctor for Leeds Tykes and medical officer for Leeds Rhinos. I have recently been appointed to the medical faculty of the Rugby Football League pitchside course.
