Mr Anil Negi is a consultant ophthalmologist at Spire Parkway Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham where he specialises in cataract removal, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, astigmatism, and laser and surgical treatment. He performs over 400 cataract procedures and over 70 glaucoma procedures each year. He is also trained in the implantation of accommodative and multifocal intraocular lenses after cataract surgery.
Mr Negi qualified in 1991 from the University of Delhi before going on to complete an MD in Ophthalmology in 1996. In 1999, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College in 2006. Mr Negi completed two fellowships at the Western Eye Hospital in London, one in diabetic eye diseases and one in glaucoma.
Mr Negi has previously spent time as the lead glaucoma consultant at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust as well as a clinical tutor for ophthalmolgy for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is actively involved in research and has published and presented both locally and nationally. His current research interests are optic disc and macular imaging in diabetes and glaucoma, vascular factors in open-angle and normal-tension glaucoma, and medical versus surgical treatment of advanced glaucoma.
