Cataract Surgery & Premium Lens Technology

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist with over a decade of experience in ophthalmology and advanced fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. My private practice focuses on modern cataract surgery, premium lens technology, and retinal disease management.

I perform a high volume of cataract surgery annually — including significantly more procedures than the average UK cataract surgeon reported in National Ophthalmology Database benchmarking data — using modern microincision, sutureless techniques under topical anaesthesia.

A particular area of interest of mine is premium intraocular lens technology, including toric, enhanced monofocal, and extended depth of focus lenses such as PureSee. These lens options can help suitable patients achieve excellent quality of vision with reduced dependence on glasses after cataract surgery.

I understand that every patient has different visual priorities, whether that is clearer distance vision, improved intermediate vision for computer use, or greater spectacle independence for day-to-day life. I take time to discuss the advantages and limitations of each lens option in detail so that treatment can be tailored to individual goals.

Medical Retina & Retinal Conditions

Alongside cataract surgery, I specialise in the diagnosis and management of retinal conditions including:

• Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
• Diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema
• Retinal vein occlusions
• Vitreomacular interface disorders

My practice incorporates advanced retinal imaging and evidence-based treatments including intravitreal injections and steroid implants and long-term monitoring of complex retinal disease.

I regularly perform intravitreal injections including Eylea and Vabysmo for conditions such as wet AMD and retinal vein occlusion.

Uveitis & Inflammatory Eye Disease

I also have fellowship-level expertise in uveitis and inflammatory eye disease following advanced subspecialty training at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Uveitis can be a complex and potentially sight-threatening condition requiring careful long-term management. I provide detailed assessment, investigation, and ongoing care for patients with ocular inflammation.

Training & Experience

I completed Ophthalmology Specialist Training in the West Midlands Deanery followed by advanced subspecialty training in Medical Retina and Cataract Surgery at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre and Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary.

I subsequently undertook a prestigious fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, gaining extensive experience in complex retinal and inflammatory eye disease.

I hold medical degrees from University of Oxford and University of London and regularly contribute to the training of ophthalmology trainees and allied healthcare professionals within NHS practice.
