Mr Amit Goyal

Having trained at Cardiff University, A Goyal became a Clinical Lecturer in Surgery at Cardiff University and completed his subspecialty training in Breast and Reconstructive Surgery at the Professorial Unit in Cardiff. After fellowships in Sheffield, Memorial Sloan Kettering and Beth Israel Deaconess he is now based at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon & Clinical Lead for Breast Surgery.

His surgical practice is focussed mainly on oncoplastic, reconstruction and cosmetic breast surgery and regularly hosts international fellows for oncoplastic & cosmetic breast surgery training.

His work has been central to the studying of and dissemination of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy within the United Kingdom. He has been awarded around 6 million pounds grant funding by NIHR HTA for breast cancer research. He leads the largest breast cancer surgical research trials in the UK – POSNOC and ATNEC. He is the Oncology and Breast Specialty Editor of the Surgery journal (UK). He is the breast research lead for East Midlands.
