Dr Mark Richardson

Dr Mark Richardson is an experienced Consultant Neurologist who provides expert evaluation and compassionate care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. He has a dedicated focus on the assessment and management of complex seizure disorders, working closely with individuals to understand their symptoms and improve their overall quality of life. Through an attentive and patient-centred approach, Dr Richardson ensures that each person receives a thorough diagnostic assessment and a tailored management plan suited to their specific needs.

In his clinical practice, Dr Richardson concentrates on the underlying mechanisms of seizure onset and the dynamics of brain networks. He utilises advanced neurophysiological and imaging techniques, including electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), to investigate brain activity. By incorporating long-term monitoring devices and targeted antiepileptic drug management, he aims to identify individual seizure patterns, forecast seizure triggers, and deliver effective, personalised treatment strategies.

Dr Richardson completed his medical degree (BM BCh) at the University of Oxford before undertaking higher specialist training in General Medicine and Neurology across Cambridge and London. He subsequently earned a Doctorate (PhD) in research at the UCL Institute of Neurology. A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Dr Richardson continues to combine clinical practice with active research in neuroscience, contributing significantly to advancements in epileptology and clinical neurophysiology.
