Professor Lana Dixon

Professor Lana Dixon is a highly regarded Consultant Cardiologist who provides comprehensive clinical assessment and reassuring management for a broad spectrum of cardiovascular conditions. She offers expert care for patients presenting with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, heart rhythm irregularities, and episodes of dizziness or loss of consciousness. Professor Dixon works closely with each individual to establish clear diagnoses and tailor personalised treatment strategies designed to support long-term heart health.

Her specialist clinical interests include the management of complex conditions such as heart failure, cardiomyopathies, and valvular heart disease. Professor Dixon subspecialises in advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging, utilising sophisticated diagnostic techniques to evaluate cardiovascular structure and function. Her expertise includes transthoracic echocardiography, trans-oesophageal echocardiography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), enabling detailed assessment and precise therapeutic planning.

Professor Dixon earned her medical degree (MB BCh BAO) with first-class honours from Queen's University Belfast in 1997, later obtaining a Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree from the same institution in 2003. She completed specialist higher training in Cardiology alongside a fellowship in cardiac imaging in London. A Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, she maintains active memberships with the British Society for Heart Failure, the British Cardiovascular Society, the British Society of Echocardiography, the European Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, and the Irish Cardiac Society.

Alongside her clinical practice, Professor Dixon contributes to clinical research and academic advancement as an Honorary Professor. She regularly publishes research findings in peer-reviewed medical journals and presents at international cardiology conferences.
