Dr Kumar Abayasekara

Dr Kumar Abayasekara is a highly accomplished Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Vascular Surgeon who provides expert surgical care to his patients. With a clinical focus that spans both General Surgery and Vascular Surgery, he is dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred treatments. Dr Abayasekara specialises in a wide range of surgical procedures, including abdominal surgery, thyroid surgery, and complex vascular interventions. Throughout his career, Dr Abayasekara has developed particular expertise in managing complex vascular conditions, such as abdominal aortic aneurysms, deep vein thrombosis, and peripheral limb ischaemia. He is highly skilled in performing both open and minimally invasive endovascular aneurysm repairs, as well as carotid endarterectomies. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Abayasekara is actively involved in clinical research and audit programmes. Dr Abayasekara completed his primary medical education at the University of Colombo, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1990. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, holding fellowships in both General Surgery and Vascular Surgery.
