Dr Krystyna Matyka

Dr Krystyna Matyka is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician specialising in Paediatrics, with a focused expertise in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. She provides comprehensive medical care for infants, children, and young adolescents, addressing a broad range of general paediatric conditions alongside complex hormonal and metabolic disorders. Dr Matyka adopts an objective, compassionate, and patient-centred approach to healthcare, working collaboratively with families to ensure that each child receives individualised and supportive care tailored to their developmental needs.

Her clinical work spans the diagnosis and ongoing management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in young people, childhood obesity, growth disorders, and general endocrine conditions. Dr Matyka holds special clinical interests in nocturnal hypoglycaemia, continuous glucose monitoring, intensive insulin therapy, and transitional care designed to support adolescents moving into adult health services. Through proactive patient and carer education, she helps families feel reassured and confident when managing long-term health requirements in home and school settings.

Dr Matyka earned her medical qualification with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) before undertaking specialist higher medical training in Paediatrics. In addition to her clinical roles, she has made substantial contributions to academic medicine, teaching, and clinical research as a Senior Lecturer and Associate Clinical Professor.
