Mr Konstantinos Bouras

Mr Konstantinos Bouras is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Private Eye Hospital. He has expertise in diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular oedema, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal vein occlusion, episcleritis, uveitis, endophthalmitis, and eye floaters.

He holds an MD and a PhD from the University of Athens Medical School and a Specialist Ophthalmology diploma with distinction from the Greek Medical Chamber. Additionally, he is a member of the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA). He also received an NHS Leadership Academy Award.

Mr Bouras's PhD was in the area of retinal vascular diseases and was carried out at the Institute of Surgical Research at the University of Athens, Greece. He has also completed a fellowship in medical retina and uveitis at St. Thomas' Hospital. His research interests are in diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular conditions, and genetic diseases. He has published papers on hypertensive retinopathy and genetic retinal disorders. Furthermore, Mr Bouras has carried out extensive research on treatments for central serous chorioretinopathy and specialises in laser treatment of CSCR.
