About Mr Samer Hamada
Mr Samer Hamada (MD, MSc, DO(Hons), FRCSEd, FRCOphth, FEBO, FWCRS) is an internationally recognised Consultant Ophthalmologist and a dual-trained paediatric and adult corneal and refractive surgeon — a rare distinction in modern ophthalmology. With over 25 years of experience, he specialises in advanced corneal, cataract and refractive surgery, including refractive cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange. He is Medical Director of Eye Clinic London, founded in 2014 as a centre of excellence, and London Cataract Centre, a leading premium surgical facility in the Harley Street medical district.
He is particularly known for managing complex cases with a high degree of precision, including irregular corneas, previous surgery, ocular surface disease and advanced anterior segment conditions. He has performed more than 2,000 corneal grafts and is recognised as a pioneer in advanced lamellar corneal transplantation techniques, helping to redefine contemporary corneal surgery. His clinical approach is built on meticulous pre-operative assessment and optimisation of the ocular surface, both before and after surgery, to enhance surgical accuracy, safety and long-term visual outcomes.
A specialist in advanced intraocular lenses, Mr Hamada was among the early adopters of trifocal and extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) lens technologies, contributing to improved visual quality and reduced dependence on spectacles. His attention to detail and surgical discipline underpin consistently strong outcomes, including an outstanding safety record with a 0% posterior capsule tear rate in cataract surgery.
In addition to his surgical work, Mr Hamada is widely recognised for his patient-centred approach, combining technical excellence with clear communication and empathy. He holds an honorary role at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where his work supporting paediatric vision reflects a commitment extending beyond private practice. A kind, high experienced gentleman. He explained every step of the procedure and the after care was brilliant. At no point was I left unclear, when I had a worry it was explained. I would highly recommend anyone to consult him on any eye surgery.

I have recently had lens replacement on both eyes, this operation was carried out by Mr Samer Hamada, who I would and will recommend to anybody who is thinking of having LR. Mr Hamada's team (Harley Street) are very thorough and professional and make you feel at ease. I also felt in safe hands during the operation which lasts about 15 minutes. The following day I was able to see and read articles that in the past would have required glasses, and now 18 days later the results are excellent. I am glad I chose Mr Hamada.

Mr Hamada was such a comfort whilst going through the procedure I felt completely at ease.
Dr Hamada- He is a man who was born for this profession. As soon as we walked into the room you felt you had met a man who was gentle and kind. His demeana was of a man who new his trade. He speaks to you in a way you will understand. He explains exactly what is wrong and the way he will help fix it for you. We have a daughter with a very rare eye condition in children. She was 9 months when we met Dr Hamada - we were very frightened but this Dr took all the time and care to put us at ease. There was hope. With his care our daughter is managing a normal little life. An email or phone call and he is at the other end to make her comfortable. This Dr is in a league of his own and in this day and age they seem very few and far between. We can not thank him enough.
