About Mr Alastair Stuart
Mr Stuart completed his Ophthalmology rotations in London after graduating from Nottingham University. He then undertook a corneal fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He is one of just a few surgeons in the world who have had formal laser eye surgery training. He has also undertaken a fellowship in refractive surgery at the London Vision Clinic, where he worked for four years before joining Optegra. He became Medical Director of Optegra UK in January 2025.
He is a key opinion leader and consultant for Carl Zeiss Meditec, Johnson and Johnson and Rayner for whom he has delivered multiple international presentations.
Mr Stuart is highly experienced in laser eye surgery and cataract surgery and has performed more than 4000 laser eye surgeries, including over 1000 SMILE treatments and 10000 cataract/lens-based procedures.
Outside of the clinic, Mr Stuart enjoys running and sports, particularly football and golf. He also enjoys spending time with his young family, and travelling and cooking together.
