About
Mr Henderson is a Ophthalmic retinal specialist and consultant based at both Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. He is part of the vitreo-retinal team and performs both adult and children's retinal and cataract surgery.
His research covers the genetics of inherited retinal diseases and he was part of the team that performed the first ocular gene therapy trial in the world. He now runs the LUXTURNA gene therapy programme at both hospitals. His current research is into the retinovascular diseases of childhood.
He trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He subsequently was appointed a clinical fellow at the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada, where he gained subspecialty training in paediatric ophthalmology. He subsequently moved to the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia where he trained in Adult Vitreo-Retinal Surgery before moving back to Moorfields for a final year of adult and paediatric vitreo-retinal surgery.
He has paediatric retinal clinics and operating lists at Great Ormond Street and Adult surgical retinal clinics at Moorfields.

Could not fault Mr Henderson in any way. Easy to talk to, puts you at ease about the procedure he is going to preform. Doesn’t rush through the consultation. I have already had a retina re-attachment & cataract surgery done by Mr Henderson on my left eye. Now waiting for cataract surgery on right eye. Even during surgery he talks to you to ensure you are ok. I’m sure the other Consultants are very good, but I am so glad I had/having Mr Henderson doing my procedures. Would thoroughly recommend this Consultant.

He was simply the best he made sure that I understood everything and made me feel sure and comfortable with him its bit easy to convince a 16 years old boy to perform surgery without anesthesia yet he did! I was stressful and uncertain about it but he managed to change that!!!

As soon as I met this person I felt very confident that he had my best interest at heart. He let me ask questions and explained everything in an approproate way. He gave me time, which is invaluable. As a retired NHS worker I could see that I was getting top notch attention, so thank you Mr Henderson
