Dr Julian Emmanuel

Dr. Julian Emmanuel is a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes with over 22 years of experience. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Liverpool, where he earned a distinction and a scholarship in histology. His postgraduate training in endocrinology was completed at University College London, followed by specialisation in obesity as a Medical Research Council research fellow. He obtained a PhD in obesity, and his research in this field has been published internationally. Dr. Emmanuel was one of the first physicians in the UK to adopt combination medical therapy for obesity, a practice he implemented during his six years at St Bartholomew’s Hospital medical obesity clinic.

Dr. Emmanuel's research has been peer-reviewed and published in several journals, and he continues to contribute to the fields of obesity endocrinology and general internal medicine. His work is well regarded internationally, particularly in the treatment of obesity and related endocrine disorders. He currently manages conditions involving the thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid, and adrenal glands at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare, working closely with multidisciplinary teams at both SASH and St George’s Hospital London, as well as Brighton Hospital and Imperial Healthcare London.

Dr. Emmanuel has treated over 20,000 patients at SASH, a hospital rated "outstanding" by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). He remains an active researcher and is dedicated to advancing the treatment and understanding of endocrinological and metabolic conditions.
