About Mr Surendra Patnaik
Mr Surendra Patnaik is a highly experienced Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with over seven years of specialist practice, renowned for his expertise in shoulder, elbow and soft-tissue knee surgery. He is skilled in both keyhole and open surgical techniques and has particular proficiency in shoulder reconstruction and joint replacement, as well as the management of complex soft-tissue injuries of the knee.
Having completed advanced fellowships with leading upper-limb surgeons across Southeast England, Mr Patnaik has developed a comprehensive surgical skill set. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 2,500 shoulder and elbow operations—including arthroscopic procedures, ligament repairs and major reconstructions—and over 1,000 knee arthroscopies, covering meniscal surgery, ligament reconstruction and a wide range of other interventions.
In his NHS role, Mr Patnaik plays a key role in the management of complex upper-limb and sports-related knee injuries, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver individualised, evidence-based care. He also leads his department’s infection control and Healthcare-Associated Infection (HCAI) programme, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Patnaik is dedicated to developing future generations of orthopaedic surgeons. As an Educational Supervisor, he provides ongoing mentorship, training and support to orthopaedic trainees, helping them build confidence and clinical expertise.
