Dr John Isherwood

Dr John Isherwood is a dedicated Consultant General Surgeon who specialises in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. He provides comprehensive clinical care for patients presenting with complex conditions of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary tract. Known for his professional approach and commitment to clinical excellence, Dr Isherwood works within multidisciplinary teams to deliver individualised diagnostic assessments and evidence-based surgical management.

Dr Isherwood completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Leicester, earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) alongside a First Class Honours intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Cell Physiology and Pharmacology. Pursuing advanced research into targeted oncological treatments, he was awarded his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2017. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 2021, marking his completion of specialist higher surgical training.

In his clinical practice, Dr Isherwood focuses on advanced hepatobiliary surgical procedures, laparoscopic management of gallbladder disease, and organ retrieval techniques. Alongside his surgical commitments, he serves as a Lecturer and Clinical Educator, actively mentoring trainees and contributing to peer-reviewed medical publications.
