About Dr. Jimmy Ng
Mr Jimmy Ng is a Consultant Trauma and Soft Tissue Knee Surgeon based in Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, also seeing private patients at The Park Hospital. Mr Ng completed his medical degree at the University of Nottingham in 2011 and undertook his orthopaedic training in the East Midlands region. His interest in sports and having ACL reconstruction himself at the age of 18 sparked his interest in sport injuries around the knee, leading him to pursue a career in this subspecialty.
Mr Ng later undertook fellowships in the UK (Derby, Oxford, and Coventry) and in Australia (Perth) where he gained significant experience in managing sports injuries around the knee and performing complex reconstruction surgery to allow people to return to sports/activity. He believes in joint-preserving surgery whenever possible to avoid or delay the progression of osteoarthritis.
Mr Ng now has a busy soft tissue knee practice in Nottingham, offering simple arthroscopic procedures to complex ligament (often multiple ligaments) reconstructions and re-alignment (osteotomy) surgery. He offers an individualised approach in ACL reconstruction surgery, tailoring his graft selection to individual patient’s needs. He also performs partial and total knee replacement surgery when joint preservation is no longer possible.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Ng has set up a fellowship program in Nottingham, which has attracted senior trainees from the UK and around the world to come and train with him. He is also an educational lead for the orthopaedic training program in the East Midlands and is actively involved in surgical training and teaching. He has founded and is currently the president of East Midlands Knee Preservation Society, with the aim to collaborate with colleagues around the region and to improve the overall quality of knee surgery in the region.
Despite being a busy clinician, he continues to be active in research and attends conferences regularly to stay up to date to provide the best treatment for his patients.

My daughter who is 13 had an ACL reconstruction and double meniscus repair from Dr. Jimmy Ng, he has been fantastic! He made her feel very safe and comfortable from our very first consultation. He explained everything within depth that he was going to do, to repair her knee and on the day of her surgery again, explained everything in detail and made her feel very comfortable. She was obviously very nervous knowing how much work she needed doing to fix her knee but Jimmy made her feel very calm and safe and made sure to come in and check on her after her surgery had happened. We have just been for her 6 week check up and both Dr. Jimmy Ng and we are very happy with her progress! We cannot thank him enough.
I have been very impressed with Dr Ng, he was very good at explaining the procedure that was needed to repair my knee and the recovery period afterwards. I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
JImmy was excellent on all fronts. I would highly recommend
great experience. I recently had a partial knee replacement after many years of complaining to my doctor. Dr Jimmy got me straight onto the waiting list which turned out to be not that long, now I am arthritis pain free in that knee. He explained everything clearly and has a great bed side manner.
I underwent two ACL reconstruction surgeries on both knees, six months apart, both performed by Jimmy. He provided a clear and thorough explanation of the procedures, including the different options available to me. Both surgeries were successful, and the aftercare I received has been excellent. I would highly recommend Jimmy to anyone considering knee or joint surgery.
