Dr Janith Chandrakumara

Dr Janith Chandrakumara is a dedicated Consultant Paediatrician committed to delivering compassionate and holistic care for infants, children, and young people. Working across broad child health services, he focuses on providing thorough medical assessments and clinical treatments tailored to the physical and developmental needs of every child. His professional approach emphasises clear communication and partnership with parents, fostering a safe and reassuring clinical environment for young patients and their families.

Dr Chandrakumara completed his foundational medical training, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He subsequently pursued advanced postgraduate qualifications in child health, attaining a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Paediatrics. Reflecting his commitment to high professional standards and continuous learning, Dr Chandrakumara became a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH).

In his clinical practice, Dr Chandrakumara manages a wide range of childhood conditions, with core expertise in general paediatric care and child safety. His clinical interests encompass paediatric respiratory medicine, including childhood asthma and recurrent wheeze management, intravenous fluid safety and electrolyte balance, and paediatric renal health. In addition to direct patient care, he holds clinical leadership roles as an Education Lead and Named Doctor for Safeguarding, actively advancing child protection standards and medical training.
