Jan Paulden

Jan Erik Paulden is an addictions therapist and psychotherapist at Nightingale Hospital, offering both individual and group therapy for patients struggling with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. His areas of focus include substance misuse, behavioural addictions such as sex and love addiction, and associated challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, and interpersonal difficulties.

Jan Erik qualified as an addiction therapist in 2011 and later completed a postgraduate diploma in counselling psychology in 2023. He has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including at Priory and one of Sweden’s largest rehabilitation centres, gaining extensive experience with clients from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. He also provided therapeutic support to young adults through the UK charity Depaul, helping individuals navigate anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges.

At Nightingale Hospital, Jan Erik draws on his integrative approach, blending cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and other psychotherapeutic models. He specialises in treating a broad spectrum of addictive behaviours, including alcohol, drug, gambling, sex, love, and technology addiction.

His work is centred on building a collaborative and supportive relationship with each client. He believes that with the right tools and environment, every individual has the capacity to work through their difficulties, build resilience, and move toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Jan Erik is an Advanced Practitioner registered with Addiction Professionals and holds memberships with both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and the British Psychological Society (MBPsS). He offers therapy in English, Swedish, and Spanish.
