About Mr James White
Mr W James White, Consultant Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon, works with the Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) and provides private services at, The Lister Hospital Chelsea, The Shard-London Bridge Hospital, King Edward VIIs Hospital, Princess Grace Hopsital and New Vicoria Hospital Kingston. He is fully specialised in arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and upper limb trauma (shoulder/elbow/wrist). He endeavours to use non-operative techniques when possible. He has an excellent record of good outcomes from his surgery, rejecting a one-fit-all approach.
He is currently the Trauma lead for GSTT and Royal College Surgical Tutor for the Trust.
Mr White qualified in 2007 from University College London Medical School, before going on to start his specialist training on the Northwest London Programme in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Afterwards, he went on to complete several fellowships at Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London, both highly respected institutions.
Mr White has a significant publication history with numerous publications in medical journals and has presented his work internationally. He has also co-authored several book chapters focusing on upper limb surgery and has contributed to the development of National Guidelines for distal radius fracture treatment for the British Orthopaedic Association.

James made everything on the procedure he carried out on my shoulder. I’m now almost pain free in that area except if I stretch really severely the rehab has worked well as well. I’m extremely happy with everything to be honest
I had a truly excellent experience with Dr. White for my major rotator cuff surgery from start to finish. The turnaround from initial consultation to surgery and follow-up appointments was impressively quick, which gave me a lot of confidence and peace of mind. Dr. White explained everything very clearly at each stage, ensuring I fully understood the procedure and recovery process. He is a very good listener and took the time to address all my questions without ever making me feel rushed. What really stood out is how approachable and available he is; he made himself accessible whenever needed, even offering support via Zoom, which was incredibly reassuring. Overall, the care and professionalism I received were outstanding, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.
Have know Mr white for years. He has treated both my frozen shoulders both with Hydrodilation and one with surgery. Absolutely amazing surgeon. He is calm and explains everything so well. The surgery went so well and I went from pain 10 to pain 0 in 7 days post surgery.
