Mr Gavin John Bryce

Mr Gavin John Bryce is a highly accomplished Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon based in Glasgow. He specialises as a General Surgeon, with a particular focus on upper gastrointestinal conditions. His clinical practice encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the upper digestive tract, including gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, gallstone disease, and abdominal wall hernias. Committed to delivering patient-centred care, Mr Bryce utilises advanced minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopic surgery, to ensure optimal recovery times and outcomes for his patients.

Mr Bryce graduated from The University of Glasgow School of Medicine in 2002. Following his graduation, he completed his comprehensive surgical training within the West of Scotland, during which he was awarded a research Doctor of Medicine (MD) for his thesis on peri-operative cardiac risk. In 2013, he obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Surgery, subspecialising in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. He is actively involved in professional education, serving as a Clinical Trainer and contributing as a Faculty Member for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow on courses such as Advanced Skills in Cadaveric Surgery and Basic Surgical Skills, as well as the Royal College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support course.

Throughout his career, Mr Bryce has held several key leadership and management roles within the regional healthcare system. He has served as a Clinical Director of Surgery and Associated Specialties, as well as the Clinical Lead for emergency laparotomy and laparoscopic surgery audits. Additionally, he has led regional cancer services as an Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Lead and spearheaded innovative diagnostic initiatives, including serving as the Clinical Lead for a regional cytosponge programme. His dedication to clinical excellence is further demonstrated by his contribution to regional clinical network advisory boards, ensuring that patient care pathways remain at the forefront of modern medical standards.
