Dr Gargi Banerjee

Dr Gargi Banerjee is a highly accomplished Consultant Neurologist and Clinician Scientist who is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients experiencing complex neurological conditions. With a strong focus on clinical excellence and cutting-edge research, she specialises in stroke medicine, cerebral small vessel disease, and cognitive impairment. Her clinical practice is deeply informed by her active involvement in pioneering research, allowing her to offer patients the most advanced, evidence-based approaches to diagnosis and management.

Her primary areas of clinical interest include cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), intracerebral haemorrhage, and vascular cognitive impairment. Dr Banerjee is particularly recognised for her research into the mechanisms of amyloid-beta transmission and its role in conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. By combining her clinical expertise with her scientific research, she aims to develop innovative strategies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of these challenging neurological disorders, ensuring her patients receive comprehensive and forward-thinking care.

Dr Banerjee completed her pre-clinical medical studies at the University of Cambridge before pursuing her clinical training at the University of Oxford, where she qualified in 2010. She went on to obtain her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2013. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic neurology, she completed her PhD in Clinical Neurology in 2019. Her extensive training also includes prestigious appointments as an Academic Clinical Fellow and a Clinical Lecturer, which have further solidified her expertise in the field of Neurology.
