Dr Rose is a consultant neurologist with expertise in general neurology and a particular interest in headaches, blackouts, and unexplained neurological symptoms. Additionally, he sub-specialises in muscle disease and myasthenia gravis. He has been in private practice since 1996.
Dr Rose trained in neurology at Atkinson Morley's Hospital, the National Hospitals for Neurology, Queen Square, St Bartholomew's Hospital, and the Royal London Hospital. He also established the First Seizure Clinic at the hospital and also helped to establish a nationally recognised regional muscle disease clinic service at King's College Hospital, focusing on patients with muscle disease, and myasthenia.
He continues NHS neurology clinics: recently at Whittington Hospital, and currently at National Hospital for Neurology, Queen Square.
Dr Rose was a co-editor of the Cochrane Review Group on Neuromuscular Diseases. He was a TREAT-NMD network partner, a founding member of the Muscle Study Group and member of the European Neuromuscular Centre research committee. He served a three year term as an elected member the the Council of the Royal College of Physicians from 2015 to 2018.
He is involved in research and has written papers, book chapters, and books on neurology and muscle disease. His most recent research was into muscle disease, with a focus on clinical trials and quality of life of those with long term muscle disease.
He just completed a 4-year term as parent governor of his sons' secondary school.
