Mr Espeed Khoshbin

Mr Espeed Khoshbin is a consultant cardiac surgeon at Harefield Hospital with extensive experience in performing cardiac surgical procedures including heart and lung transplantation, mechanical ventricular assist devices, on-pump full coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), multi-heart valve replacement, surgical replacement of the ascending aorta and the aortic arch, heart failure surgery, and surgery for atrial fibrillation.

He obtained his MB ChB from Aberdeen Medical School and his postgraduate research doctorate (MD) from the University of Leicester. He started his training in cardiac surgery at St Mary's Hospital in London as part of the East Thames rotation and continued as a national trainee in cardiac surgery at Manchester University Hospitals.

Mr Khoshbin is highly specialised in surgical therapy for heart failure, heart and lung transplantation, and mechanical cardiac support. He has performed more than 1,000 major cardiothoracic operations including transplantation with outstanding outcomes. He is the national lead for transplant education and the clinical lead for organ utilisation at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Khoshbin is involved in research including randomised trials and has published extensively in peer-review journals such as the British Medical Journal, Circulation, Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He is an expert reviewer for the national institute of health care research.
