Mr Espeed Khoshbin

Mr Espeed Khoshbin is a consultant cardiac surgeon at Harefield Hospital with extensive experience in performing cardiac surgical procedures including heart and lung transplantation, mechanical ventricular assist devices, on-pump full coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), conventional Aortic valve replacement (AVR), multi-heart valve replacement, surgical replacement of the ascending aorta and the hemi arch, heart heart transplantation, ventricular aneurysm surgery and surgery for atrial fibrillation.

He obtained his MB ChB from Aberdeen Medical School and his postgraduate research doctorate (MD) from the University of Leicester. He started his training in cardiac surgery at St Mary's Hospital in London as part of the East Thames rotation and continued as a national trainee in cardiac surgery at Manchester University Hospitals.

Mr Khoshbin is highly specialised in surgical therapy for heart failure, heart and lung transplantation, and mechanical cardiac support. He has performed more than 2,000 major cardiothoracic operations including transplantation with outstanding outcomes. 

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Khoshbin is a honorary clinical senior lecturer at the national heart and lung institute, Imperial College and an academic tutor at imperial school of medicine. 

He is recognised for his contribution to the society of cardiothoracic surgeons of GB&I (SCTS), speciality advisory group (SAC) and the European association of cardiothoracic surgery (EACTS) where he is a leading surgeon for transplantation and mechanical cirsulatory support. 

He is an advisor to the general medical council (GMC), national institute of health care research (NIHR) and the national institute of clinical excellence (NICE).
