Mr Vivek Srivastava is professional and reassuring in his interactions with patients. He explains procedures clearly, from mitral valve repair to heart bypass surgery, ensuring patients feel informed and confident. Mr Srivastava provides excellent care throughout the surgical journey, visiting patients daily and ensuring successful outcomes for heart valve repairs and other complex cardiac conditions. His expertise is particularly noted across various cardiac interventions, including heart valve repair and heart bypass operations.
Prior to my surgery I was anxious about the actual procedure, I waited nearly a year, on reflection I should have spoken to someone during that time who could have probably calmed those fears. During my initial meeting I had a list of questions, Vivek answered them and I felt so much better, more confident about it. I ended up having minimal invasive surgery. I appreciate it was a team of people but from the phone call on my arrival at the JR to my discharge I felt I had been treated well. Always professional, respectful, approachable and kind. I am extremely grateful to the NHS and the amazing team of people lead by Vivek with his incredible skills that will enable me to have a longer, healthier life.
Thoroughly professional and reassuring. I was delighted with the outcome, which exceeded my own expectations. I found Dr Srivastava made me feel very confident that the operation would be successful.
Mr Srivastava was exceptional. During my first appointment he explained everything I needed to know in great detail and was unhurried and patient. He also gave me plenty of time to ask questions and answered thoroughly and carefully. After my operation and during recovery he called in regularly to check up. My post op appointment was very thorough and I was given plenty of time to go through tablets amongst other things. I was very happy he was my surgeon.
Mr Srivastava was professional, reassuring and took the time to explain everything clearly, which gave me great confidence throughout the whole process. Iam so grateful for his skill, care and attention. I would highly recommend Mr Srivastava to anyone undergoing heart surgery.
My wife and I found Vivek to be professional, supportive, empathetic and caring. At no point - from the first consultation to the last post-operative check-up did I experience anything other than his full personal attention and the benefit of his wide experience. His relaxed approach made what could have been an unpleasant episode very bearable and, most importantly, he passes on these attributes to the wonderful team around him.
It was a 5 week review to check on progress. Vivek checked that everything was going well and explained everything clearly. We were very pleased and would wholeheartedly recommend Vivek to anyone needing heart surgery.
Heart surgery is never an experience to relish, but Mr Srivastava’s excellent care made it as tolerable as is possible. After months of waiting, it is easy to underestimate the feeling of ‘now it’s real’. Mr Srivastava’s kindness and guidance removed much of my anxiety. He went to great lengths to explain and reassure, both throughout the pre-op appointments and on the ward. From the outset Mr Srivastava put me entirely at ease, explaining my mitral valve repair procedure and my options very clearly. My operation went better than I expected, but exactly how Mr Srivastava had described. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the excellent care, concern and support I received from Mr Srivastava and his team. They are truly exceptional people.
From the first moment I met with Mr Srivastava in the pre-assessment for my mitral valve repair I was filled with absolute confidence and any apprehensions quickly disappeared. Unfortunately, I developed Acute Pancreatitis just before my proposed heart surgery date and so my surgery had to be delayed. Mr Srivastava kindly phoned my wife in the evening to reassure us both and to put in place a plan for the revised surgery. On the morning of my Mitral Valve repair Mr Srivastava took time to speak with myself and my wife. Once again any worries dissipated and as I went into theatre I was smiling and filled with confidence. I'm pleased to say my surgery was a complete success and I was discharged on day 5. I was in very little discomfort post-op and in-fact didn't require any pain relief and was within a couple of weeks walking several miles with ease on a daily basis. My wife and myself will forever be extremely grateful to Mr Srivastava and his team.
I was referred onto Mr Vivek Srivastava, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at John Radcliffe Hospital by NGH following a diagnosis of Severe Mitral Valve Regurgitation & enlarged left Ventricle, and 5 Cardiac Arteries being blocked. Following an outpatient appointment with Vivek I was reassured that he would be able to treat my cardiac conditions although it would be complex given what was required to be done. I attended John Radcliffe Hospital to complete various diagnostic tests in preparation for my procedure. I also received various items of documentation explaining what would be happening and therefore what to expect/prepare for – very useful as when told these things verbally it was a lot to take in and therefore great to refer back to. Given the procedures were complex, surgery was going to take a day of theatre time, so I was admitted the evening before surgery during which time I was visited by a member of Vivek’s team to run through what was to be happening. Next morning after visits by both an Anaesthetist and then Vivek, I was taken to theatre. I eventually awoke from anaesthetic etc in the Coronary Care Unit, where I remained for the next 5 days. During my stay here I received daily visits from Vivek and/or his team as well as the constant attention of the CCU team. I was eventually transferred onto the Cardiac Ward again receiving regular visits from Mr Srivastava and/or his team as well as those of the ward staff. On each visit things were clearly explained to me: of my progress; what next; my expectations and any queries answered – all in a friendly professional...
