Mr Vivek Srivastava demonstrates a professional and reassuring approach in his patient interactions. He explains conditions and surgical options such as valve repair/replacement and heart bypass surgery, helping patients feel informed and confident. Mr Srivastava provides excellent post-operative care, with daily visits and clear communication with patients and families. Overall patient feedback highlights successful outcomes for major heart procedures.
From the first moment I met with Mr Srivastava in the pre-assessment for my mitral valve repair I was filled with absolute confidence and any apprehensions quickly disappeared. Unfortunately, I developed Acute Pancreatitis just before my proposed heart surgery date and so my surgery had to be delayed. Mr Srivastava kindly phoned my wife in the evening to reassure us both and to put in place a plan for the revised surgery. On the morning of my Mitral Valve repair Mr Srivastava took time to speak with myself and my wife. Once again any worries dissipated and as I went into theatre I was smiling and filled with confidence. I'm pleased to say my surgery was a complete success and I was discharged on day 5. I was in very little discomfort post-op and in-fact didn't require any pain relief and was within a couple of weeks walking several miles with ease on a daily basis. My wife and myself will forever be extremely grateful to Mr Srivastava and his team.
I was referred onto Mr Vivek Srivastava, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at John Radcliffe Hospital by NGH following a diagnosis of Severe Mitral Valve Regurgitation & enlarged left Ventricle, and 5 Cardiac Arteries being blocked. Following an outpatient appointment with Vivek I was reassured that he would be able to treat my cardiac conditions although it would be complex given what was required to be done. I attended John Radcliffe Hospital to complete various diagnostic tests in preparation for my procedure. I also received various items of documentation explaining what would be happening and therefore what to expect/prepare for – very useful as when told these things verbally it was a lot to take in and therefore great to refer back to. Given the procedures were complex, surgery was going to take a day of theatre time, so I was admitted the evening before surgery during which time I was visited by a member of Vivek’s team to run through what was to be happening. Next morning after visits by both an Anaesthetist and then Vivek, I was taken to theatre. I eventually awoke from anaesthetic etc in the Coronary Care Unit, where I remained for the next 5 days. During my stay here I received daily visits from Vivek and/or his team as well as the constant attention of the CCU team. I was eventually transferred onto the Cardiac Ward again receiving regular visits from Mr Srivastava and/or his team as well as those of the ward staff. On each visit things were clearly explained to me: of my progress; what next; my expectations and any queries answered – all in a friendly professional...
Read moreDr Srivastava was very professional. He explained clearly my procedure and answered questions, putting my mind at rest. He was personable and easy to talk with. He always found tine to check in on me.
Mr Vivek Srivastava was very professional understanding and kind. He explained everything that I wasn’t sure about.
My recent visit was an absolute delight, all the staff treated my Wife and I with kindness. Mr Vivek Srivastava informed me on the operation procedure which I found very interesting but at the same time I had no apprehension as I felt very lucky my operation would be carried out by the best team in the world. I came round during 7 days in intensive care, During a visit my Wife talked about the time the operation took and how she appreciated the telephone call from Mr Srivastava who explained the procedure and my condition putting her mind at rest. We both visited Mr Srivastava after 9 weeks from my admission to the Hospital enabling us to thank him personally for his skills and professionalism. Michael T.
Found Mr Srivastava very gracious and approachable, he answered all questions that I asked and kept in touch with me throughout. I am (and my family!) so very pleased with the communications and the outcome of my triple by pass operation.
I doubt anybody wants to have heart surgery but I cannot praise Mr. Srivastava highly enough for making it the best experience it could be. I very much appreciated the time he took in the first appointment to explain the condition, outline the options, explain the surgery and outline the risks. I left feeling fully informed about what was to come. Prior to the procedure he checked in by phone to see if I had any further questions and we had another discussion on the morning of the procedure. I felt really well supported after the operation. Mr Srivastava came to see me most days and on the days he couldn't get there, he called to check on progress. The hospital team were excellent and obviously in regular touch with him both before and after discharge to provide me with support, answer questions and manage changes to medication. I had several follow-up calls during my recovery at home and a final examination. Most importantly, the valve repair has been successful. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Srivastava to anyone who needs this type of surgery.
Vivek Srivastava was my surgeon for a mitral valve repair carried out at John Radcliffe hospital (JRH) in February 2026. From my first meeting with Vivek I felt confident I was in the right hands. He took as much time as needed to explain the procedure and its options and risks. He came to see me pre-op on the day and then everyday post op to follow up on my progress. I felt exceptionally well cared for in the JRH Heart Centre, have made a steady recovery since and had a very thorough post-op review earlier this month. I highly recommend the combination of Vivek Srivastava and JRH to anyone needing this complex yet potentially life-changing surgery.
I first met Mr Vivek Srivastava in September 25. And was put completely at ease for the plan to have a double bypass with his explanation and terminology in layman's terms On the day of my operation I was met by Mr Srivastava and the team. Again felt completely at ease with their manner and explanation of everything that was to happen. Post surgery he called my wife personally to explain how everything went. this comforted the family before they could get back to see me. Everything went as he had planned and explained. So pleased to have had my op done by him. Unfortunately I have a family history of heart disease and now my brother has had the same operation with mr Srivastava as surgeon. All gone well also. I Can't recommend him enough. I cant Thank you enough for looking after me and my brother Very kind regards Mick K.
Mr Srivastava was very kind and helpful helping me to understand what would be happening during my operation.
