Mr Edward Matthews

Mr Edward Matthews is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in adult hip conditions, complex trauma, and lower limb reconstruction. He provides compassionate, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing hip pain, joint degeneration, and traumatic injuries. Dedicated to restoring mobility and improving quality of life, he works closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure each patient receives a tailored treatment plan aligned with their personal lifestyle and goals.

In his clinical practice, Mr Matthews manages a comprehensive range of simple and complex musculoskeletal issues. His expertise encompasses primary hip replacement surgery, complex revision hip replacement, and non-arthroplasty hip treatments. He also possesses specialist skills in limb reconstruction, the management of periprosthetic fractures around existing implants, and the treatment of complex bone and joint infections following surgery or trauma.

Mr Matthews graduated with honours from the University of Leicester in 2009, earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). He subsequently completed higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics, attaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr & Orth). To further refine his clinical focus, he completed advanced post-qualification fellowship training specialising in complex limb reconstruction and revision joint replacement surgery.
