I am from a working class background and went to a comprehensive school. When I went to medical school this wasn't the normal, but i believe it has helped me relate to my patients and appreciate the wonderful background and different patients I have had the pleasure to meet and help.

I am married with 2 adult children. I am very keen on keeping fit and understand how for some individuals keeping active is very important and always try my best to sort the cardiac issues so my patients can get on with their lives

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree from Bristol University qualified in 1990.

Appointed consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in July 2001, following cardiac training at Harefield Hospital.

As the most senior cardiologist in the Bournemouth and Poole area I have a vast experience in general cardiology and am happy to see patients with all types of cardiac problems. I have a specialist interest in interventional cardiology and stent implantation for patients with angina.

I have been interested in research all my professional career and I am currently the clinical Director for Reserach for University Hospitals Dorset. One of my personal areas of research is managing problematic hypertension.

I consider myself friendly and approachable and take great care to make sure my patients feel comfortable, understand their clinical problem and involved in management plans.
