About Dr Roger Prudham
Dr Roger Prudham is a highly specialised Consultant Gastroenterologist. From his clinic, he covers all aspects of gastrointestinal disease but has particular expertise in colonoscopy. He treats IBS, IBD and indigestion and also performs bowel cancer screening colonoscopy.
Dr Prudham graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College in 1992. He trained in general medicine and gastroenterology in Manchester, predominantly at Hope Hospital in Salford. He began his consultant career in 2000 and has been in his current post at Fairfield General Hospital in 2001. He established the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme in Bury, serving a population in North East Greater Manchester of over 800 000, in 2008 and has led this programme since.
He has been an accredited bowel cancer screening programme colonoscopist for over 11 years and has undertaken and taught colonoscopy for over 10 years. Along with his private practice, he works as a consultant gastroenterologist for Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and is Clinical Director for Professional Standards for the Trust, Lead cancer clinician and most recently appointed as lead clinician for the Rapid Diagnostic Centre. He has extensive experience with over 5000 procedures and much of his research can be found on ResearchGate and Pubmed, where he has contributed research to inflammatory bowel disease and colonoscopy.
In 2020, he was appointed as chair for the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Information Board. He has also been a member of the Greater Manchester Cancer Board since 2016. In addition, he has been instructed in over 60 medicolegal cases for stage 2 and stage 3 Condition and Prognosis expert witness reports relating to gastroenterology.
