Dr Phillip Mayhead

Dr Phillip Mayhead is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with over 15 years of experience in the field. He completed his medical school training at King's College London and spent two years working in rural New South Wales, Australia, before returning to the UK to complete his higher medical training in General Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been an accredited Bowel Cancer Screener (BCSP) for the past 9 years and is an examiner for the national BCS programme. 

He has a friendly and proactive approach to the management of GI and liver related conditions, and is dedicated to spending time with patients to provide a clear explanation and management plan that offers peace of mind.

Dr Mayhead's areas of specialty include diagnostics of GI dysfunction, inflammatory bowel disease, functional GI disorders such as IBS, advanced endoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic), upper and lower GI dysfunction, small bowel disorders and capsule endoscopy, and the assessment and management of liver disorders. 

He has completed a Master's Degree in Human Nutrition through Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, and is interested in the treatment of pancreatic disorders and both upper and lower gastrointestinal symptom management. 

Dr Mayhead is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology and the British Medical Association.
