Dr. Mayhead an effective listener, with a kind, calm and reassuring manner. Open minded he makes you feel confident in describing what you are experiencing with your condition and gives you the confidence to ask questions about aspects that may be worrying you. Dr. Mayhead is realistic, taking time to carefully prescribe the most appropriate and safest possible course of treatment/action and explains the exactly what is going to happen and the possible outcomes.

He was brilliant and I felt that he understood my anxiety about a gastroscopy. I thought we had agreed that it would be unconscious sedation as I have had for the procedure before, but on the day it was clear that it would be conscious sedation. I became very distressed and refused the procedure.

First consultation I nearly cried because he has been the only person who has really listened and understood my problems. It felt like I was actually going to be helped snd he explained everything and what investigations they would do. I came out of that appointment with some hope. At the colonoscopy he was kind, reassuring and explained everything so well I felt in safe hands

Dr Mayhead listened to my explanation of my symptoms, read tabled reports of previous investigations and then engaged with me on an equal level to describe and discuss next stages. Very impressed and happy with my consultation and follow up completed actions. If necessary, I will draw upon his skills again.
