Dr. Salooja has a further specialist interest in the long-term complications of stem cell transplantation and served as the lead for Late Effects after Transplant in the Transplant Complications Working Party of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplant for a duration of five years.

Having graduated from Oxford University in 1983, Dr. Salooja completed her clinical training at St Thomas's Hospital in 1986. She subsequently began research fellowships with the Leukaemia Research Fund (LRF) and the Medical Research Council (MRC). She is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists.

Throughout her career, Dr. Salooja has held numerous leadership positions at local, regional, and international levels. She has made significant contributions to the field, with over one hundred peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and printed abstracts to her name, widely cited within the scientific community.

Dr. Salooja is dedicated to education, holding a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and a Master's degree in Education. She has received accolades for her teaching and has occupied various leadership roles in education, both at the university level and within NHS England.
