About Dr Mark Edwards

Dr Mark Edwards is a Professor of Neurology. They have a specialist clinical and research interest in Movement Disorders and Functional Neurological Disorder. Their PhD research focused on the pathophysiology of genetic dystonia. Following this, they became a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Neurologist. During this time, they developed a research programme and specialist diagnostic and treatment service for patients with FND. Dr Edwards has published extensively and is the author of the Oxford Specialist Handbook of Parkinson's Disease and Other Movement Disorders.

Dr Edwards is President of the Association of British Neurology Movement Disorders Group. They are also an International Executive Committee member of the International Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Society, a Board Member of the Functional Neurological Disorder Society and Associate Editor of the European Journal of Neurology. In addition to this, they are a medical advisor for FNDHope, the UK Dystonia Society and the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine.
