About Dr Sofia Eriksson
Dr Sofia Eriksson is a consultant neurologist who specialises in epilepsy and neurological sleep disorders. She has extensive expertise in treating a wide spectrum of seizure disorders, from parasomnias to narcolepsy. Dr Eriksson also specialises in the evaluation and treatment of sleep problems, including daytime somnolence and night terrors.

Dr Eriksson graduated from medical school at Göteborg University in Sweden in 1994 and went on to pursue her PhD focusing on epilepsy at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. After completing her specialist neurology training, she was appointed consultant neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Dr Eriksson serves on the expert panel of the Association of British Neurologists and the panel for Sleep-Wake disorders for the European Academy of Neurology. She is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the University College London Institute of Neurology.

This was my initial consultation with Dr Eriksson. My health journey has been quite long and emotionally draining, so it was important to me that I felt heard, understood and supported in this consultation and Dr Eriksson ticked all the boxes. I left feeling positive and clear about the next steps . The staff and reception were super friendly and welcoming too. Highly recommend .
Dr Eriksson is an incredibly knowledgeable, experienced and professional expert. We have had many consultants over the years for my son, Jay’s, epilepsy but this appointment was very unique. We experienced a new approach to listening, understanding, thinking and recommending extremely pinpointed solutions to very complex neurological issues. We really appreciated all of this and have no hesitation in recommending Dr Eriksson, thank you.
Dr Eriksson was very knowledgeable and professional but could not wave the magic wand nor could she ‘tell’ me what I should do. I was left feeling as though I had the decisions to make, once she sent all the information through.

Dr Eriksson is an extremely talented and gifted neurologist. She is very humble, kind & respectful and shows you humility in the face of ill health. She takes time to listen to you so you have an opportunity to express, in your own words how you are feeling and, then she explains in detail what her professional opinion is based on extensive test results and clinical observations. Because Dr Eriksson is so articulate in her communication, this is done in a very down to earth manner which you can understand and get your head around; especially with the brain being such a complex organ. She is sophisticated and graceful and you warm to her straight away because she makes you feel comfortable in her presence. She is genuinely very caring and empathetic and that’s really needed when you have a complicated health history. I can say with complete confidence that Dr Eriksson is a world class neurologist and at the top of her field. I feel very fortunate to have her as my neurologist.
