Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Henry Colaço specialises in sports and reconstructive shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as complex upper limb trauma (including hand and wrist). He has experience in treating high-profile actors, directors, musicians, and professional athletes from international rugby players to UFC fighters.

He takes a patient-centred approach to care, tailoring his treatments (both surgical and non-surgical) to each individual. Where surgery is required, he uses cutting-edge procedures and uses minimally invasive techniques wherever possible to obtain the best outcomes and a faster recovery time. He has particular interests in reconstructive arthroscopic keyhole surgical procedures for the treatment of shoulder instability, biological augmentation for rotator cuff repairs, and 3D planning for joint replacement surgery.

Mr Colaço completed his surgical and orthopaedic training in London after graduating with distinction from Imperial College School of Medicine. He completed two fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery and complex upper limb surgery and was awarded the renowned BESS Travelling Fellowship, which he completed in Paris and Lyon. He was the Clinical Lead for Upper Limb Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is the current Surgical Lead for Sustainability and Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship programme director. He enjoyed 9 years at The Shoulder Practice and 12 years convening The London Shoulder Meeting before creating LONDON SHOULDER. He is widely published, teaches at national and international conferences and is actively involved in clinical research and the use of simulation to train junior surgeons.

I was very fortunate to have been introduced to Dr Colaco by a friend, who has had treatment from Dr Colaco in the past. Dr Colaco, when I met with him gave me a lot of confidence in how he presented himself to me, and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking help for shoulder problems, ( which is for what I was seeing him ) Also all the staff at the Lister Hospital, where gracious, welcoming and efficient. I live in Canada, and although of UK origin, in Canada we have very limited access to private consultants and specialist, so I feel fortunate that I was able to be treated for my problem within 3 days of first contact with Drr Colaco

Henry is excellent from all perspectives. His professionalism, expertise, and bedside manner place him among the finest shoulder surgeons I have encountered in my career. I have referred numerous patients with shoulder conditions to him, and every one of them has reported complete satisfaction with their care. I have also had the opportunity to be treated by him personally for an ACJ injury, and both the experience and clinical outcome were excellent.
