Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Henry Colaço specialises in sports and reconstructive shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as complex upper limb trauma (including hand and wrist). He has experience in treating high-profile actors, directors, musicians, and professional athletes from international rugby players to UFC fighters.
He takes a patient-centred approach to care, tailoring his treatments (both surgical and non-surgical) to each individual. Mr Colaço completed his surgical and orthopaedic training in London after graduating with distinction from Imperial College School of Medicine. He completed two fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery and complex upper limb surgery and was awarded the renowned BESS Travelling Fellowship, which he completed in Paris and Lyon. He was the Clinical Lead for Upper Limb Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is the current Surgical Lead for Sustainability and Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship programme director. He enjoyed 9 years at The Shoulder Practice and 12 years convening The London Shoulder Meeting before creating LONDON SHOULDER. He is widely published, teaches at national and international conferences and is actively involved in clinical research and the use of simulation to train junior surgeons.

Check up after scans and MRI. Running late which is usual and not a problem. Very friendly staff. Consultant explained everything in detail and answered my questions. Very happy.
Super professional, curtesy and once hell of a phenomenal surgeon! This gentleman’s work is amazing and impressive. Couldn’t have ask for better surgeon!
I had several consultation, pre and post surgery with Dr Colaco. He was always clear, concise and reassuring of the treatment and recovery plan after my injury. It was a long road and one that at one point I felt my shoulder would never get back to being able to get back in the gym and box again, but it feels great now. I'm back in the gym, boxing and bouldering. Thank you!
My full anatomical shoulder replacement has been life changing! No more chronic pain and sleeping difficulties, and I am able to enjoy playing sport again.
Very professional. Listened to me and gave me options to rectify the situation
We had a follow up zoom meeting which was on time, explained the situation clearly and well and organised the follow up injection quickly. All very efficient.
Mr.Colaco supported me about my health issue,he is very experienced in his area.
Professional . I felt confident and pleased with the treatment. Thank you
Mr Colaco was professional, approachable, and took the time to explain my condition and the proposed treatment clearly and in a way I could understand. I felt listened to and was given the opportunity to ask questions, all of which were answered thoroughly. The consultation was well‑structured and reassuring, and I left feeling confident about the next steps in my care. Overall, the standard of care was excellent, and I felt supported throughout the appointment.
Extremely pleasant experience. Henry completed a round of different movements before finding the exact sore point despite me being unable to press a sore point for 3 months. I was referred straight for an MRI and managed to have it the same afternoon. Seamless process.

Orthopaedic SurgeonMr Colaço is a much valued colleague in The Shoulder Practice. We refer patients when sensible to do so in view of our complementary skills and experience. Mr Colaço has a very rational, reasoned, logical and evidence-based approach to decision-making in the spectrum of cases with which he is involved, and brings challenging cases for good discussions at our multidisciplinary meetings. I have been grateful for his advice on a number of occasions and have enjoyed working with him in teh operating theatre.
