Dr Hadi Manji, Consultant Neurologist, currently works at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and Ipswich Hospital He is highly experienced in all aspects of neurology including peripheral nerve disorders, headache disorders (e.g. migraine), dizziness, brain infections (e.g. Meningitis, HIV) and movement disorders (e.g. Parkinson's). He currently runs multiple clinics for general neurology concerns, peripheral nerve disorders, and patients with brain infections.
Dr Manji qualified with his undergraduate medical degree in 1982 from Cambridge University. He began training as a GP in Edinburgh but changed his career course and went on to complete his neurology speciality training in several units across South England including Middlesex, Royal Free, and National Hospitals. He also spent time developing his skills abroad by undertaking a six month training period at L'hopital Kremlin-Bicetre in Paris. He was later was appointed as a Consultant Neurologist in 1997.
Dr Manji is an active member of the research community and has published numerous papers on peripheral nerve disorders, HIV neurology, and other general neurology topics. He is currently participating in research examining the neurology complications of COVID-19. One of his most recent publications in the Journal "Brain" was titled 'The emerging spectrum of COVID-19 neurology: clinical, radiological and laboratory findings. He also commits time to academic publishing and recently wrote an editorial entitled 'Neurology in the time of COVID-19' in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry. Dr Manji is the Senior author and Editor of the Oxford Handbook of Neurology In 2019 -2020, he was President of the Neurosciences Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
In March 2022, he was appointed Honorary Associate Professor at University college London.
In May 2022, Dr Manji was awarded the Association of British Neurologists Medal for services to National and International Neurology.
