Dr Edward Seward is a gastroenterologist who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of precancer and early cancer of the bowel. He has particular expertise in colonoscopy and performs over a thousand operations every year.
His areas of expertise are as follows:
He is the Director of Endoscopy at University College London Hospital, the UK's leading endoscopy hospital, and he delivers endoscopy lectures both nationally and internationally. He also teaches colonoscopy techniques and polyp detection, characterisation, and removal. His outpatient clinics specialise in the treatment of IBD, colon polyps, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Dr Seward is an associate professor at UCL and has published substantially on the application of artificial intelligence in the colon as well as non-invasive detection of bowel cancer. Dr Edward Seward consistently receives praise for his professional, friendly, clear, and reassuring interactions with patients. He provides thorough explanations for procedures like colonoscopies and gastroscopies, ensuring patients feel at ease, confident, and understand everything from preparation to results. The patient feedback consistently highlights excellent care for abdominal issues and digestive system investigations.
Dr Seward provided excellent care. He explained everything thoroughly and performed a challenging colonoscopy with great skill. He skilfully managed my medication to minimise any discomfort. He explained his findings very clearly and gave me a printout. He sent me the results very quickly. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to friends and family.
Dr Seward and the team were very professional, reassuring and clear throughout the process. The appointment was well organised, and everything was explained in a calm and helpful way. I felt well looked after and would be happy to recommend Dr Seward to others.
Although I perhaps created a bit of a challenge by not having any sedation, the procedure went smoothly and was provided with helpful and reassuring explanations and dialogue.
Given that the procedure is not something you look forward to, Ed makes the whole experience almost a pleasure! He has a fantastic, relaxed manner, explains everything very carefully, gives you confidence in his expertise and is generally outstanding! I couldn't be more positive.
Ed, Dr Seward was really friendly yet professional. He made me feel at ease even though I was nervous as it was my first colonoscopy. I was quite awake during the procedure, he explained what was going on carefully and in details. It was easy to understand.
Dr Seward took the time to understand my concerns, had a wonderful bedside manner and gave me clear and practical advice.
Dr Seward throughout was friendly, informative and professional. (As always the worst bit is before you arrive at the Unit.). Dr Seward chats away through and is extremely interesting.. the procedure itself was performed with almost no discomfort. I would totally and absolutely recommend him.
Dr Seward was very professional and provided me the confidence I was in great hands before, during and after the procedure
