Dr Douglas Aitken

Dr Douglas Aitken is a highly regarded Consultant General Surgeon who specialises in colorectal surgery. With a patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to providing high-quality surgical care for individuals experiencing a wide range of abdominal and bowel conditions. His clinical practice focuses on delivering safe, effective, and modern surgical interventions, ensuring that patients feel fully supported and informed throughout their treatment journey.

His areas of expertise encompass both emergency and elective general surgery, with a particular focus on laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Dr Aitken is highly skilled in performing minimally invasive procedures for both benign and malignant conditions, including bowel cancer and anal cancer. Dr Aitken completed his medical education at the University of Leeds, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 1995. He went on to pursue extensive postgraduate surgical training, obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS Ed) in 1999. He achieved his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in General Surgery in 2007. To maintain the highest standards of clinical practice, he is an active member of the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland.
