Dr David Charles Watchorn

Dr David Charles Watchorn is a Consultant Respiratory Physician. Dr Watchorn graduated from the School of Medicine in University College Dublin in 2009. He subsequently trained in respiratory medicine in Dublin's principal teaching hospitals and was dually certified as a specialist in Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine in 2018. Dr Watchorn is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, the Irish Thoracic Society and the British Thoracic Society.

Dr Watchorn has a special interest in the management of difficult-to-treat and severe asthma, as well as related conditions. He is also interested in the management of chronic refractory cough and large airways collapse. Dr Watchorn is a member of the Upper Airway multidisciplinary team and runs specialist clinics for these conditions, as well as for unexplained breathlessness.

Dr Watchorn is passionate about teaching and training. He has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate medicine, including as a Special Lecturer and Clinical Tutor at University College Dublin, and as an ERS-designated mentor for the HERMES exam for UK-based trainees. He has written questions for postgraduate membership, written examinations, and has examined at postgraduate membership clinical examinations.
