Dr Chih Ying Tan

Dr Chih Ying Tan is a dedicated General Surgeon and Colorectal Surgeon with extensive expertise in comprehensive surgical care. Specialising in emergency surgical interventions and lower gastrointestinal conditions, she delivers compassionate, patient-centred care for individuals experiencing complex abdominal and bowel disorders. Her practice encompasses both emergency general surgery and specialised elective procedures, with a core focus on improving quality of life and supporting long-term recovery.

Dr Tan maintains a strong clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and other colitides, as well as intestinal failure and complex bowel conditions. Her clinical expertise incorporates advanced surgical techniques, keyhole bowel operations, and urgent general surgery. Passionate about championing the patient voice in medical decision-making, Dr Tan emphasises personalised care planning, clear communication, and collaborative management to ensure each patient feels fully informed and reassuringly guided throughout their care.

Dr Tan earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2012. She subsequently gained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2016 and achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 2021. In addition to her surgical qualifications, she is an active member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland (ACPGBI).
