Dr Bhavan Rai

Dr Rai is a Consultant Urological Surgeon who specialises in urological oncology and minimally invasive robotic surgery. With a commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care, he treats individuals presenting with both benign and malignant urological conditions. Dr Rai aims to provide clear, reassuring guidance throughout each patient's diagnostic and treatment journey, employing modern, evidence-based surgical techniques to deliver high-quality outcomes.

In clinical practice, Dr Rai focuses on the management of prostate cancer and upper tract urothelial carcinoma, as well as bladder cancer. He routinely performs advanced minimally invasive procedures, including robotic prostatectomy and laparoscopic nephrectomy. His clinical scope encompasses general urology, endourology, benign prostate disease, reconstructive urology, female urology, and andrology, offering tailored diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for a wide variety of conditions.

Dr Rai earned his primary medical degree (MBBS) before completing basic and higher specialist training in urology in Scotland. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) research degree evaluating urinary biomarkers in bladder cancer, alongside a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology (FRCS Urol). To refine his operative skills, he completed double fellowship training in robotic surgery at accredited high-volume centres in Europe and the United Kingdom. Dr Rai is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and holds active memberships and leadership roles within the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the European Association of Urology.

Alongside his operative duties, Dr Rai is deeply involved in clinical research, medical education, and surgical innovation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, with research interests spanning urological oncology, systematic reviews, and surgical outcomes. As a dedicated educator, Dr Rai actively trains medical students and junior Urologists through structured surgical courses and webinars, ensuring the highest standards of care for future patients.
