Dr Bernadette Brennan

Dr Bernadette Brennan is a highly respected Consultant Paediatric Oncologist who specialises in the care of children and young people. With a compassionate and holistic approach to patient care, she is dedicated to diagnosing and treating complex childhood cancers. Her clinical practice focuses on providing reassuring, patient-centred care to families navigating difficult diagnoses, ensuring that every child receives the highest standard of medical attention.

Dr Brennan completed her medical degrees at St Andrews University and Manchester Medical School, qualifying as a Doctor in 1987. She undertook extensive postgraduate training in General Paediatrics and subsequently specialised in Paediatric and Adolescent Oncology. She holds several prestigious qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB), and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) focusing on the late effects of childhood leukaemia. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH). Dr Brennan is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group, the European Paediatric Soft Tissue Sarcoma Study Group, and the Euro Ewing Consortium.

Throughout her career, Dr Brennan has developed a profound interest in paediatric sarcomas, including Ewing sarcoma, osteosarcoma, and soft tissue sarcomas, as well as rare childhood tumours. She is heavily involved in national and international clinical trials aimed at discovering kinder, more effective treatments for young patients. In addition to her clinical work, she holds prominent leadership and advisory roles within various national cancer networks and research trusts, contributing significantly to the advancement of paediatric oncology care and the management of long-term treatment side effects.
