About Mr Awaiz Ahmed
Mr Awaiz Ahmed is a Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the management of spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine. He graduated from The Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University, India, in 1997, where he was awarded a Gold Medal and achieved first place in the university surgical examinations. He completed his basic surgical training accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, followed by higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in India, during which he also completed a Master’s degree and research thesis.
Mr Ahmed subsequently undertook further orthopaedic training in the UK and completed advanced spinal fellowships at University Hospital Southampton and Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He was appointed as a Consultant Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeon at Croydon University Hospital NHS Trust in 2017, where his NHS practice is based. He also undertakes private practice focused exclusively on spinal surgery.
His clinical work covers the full spectrum of spinal pathology, including degenerative disease, spinal deformity, tumours, trauma and infection. He manages conditions across all regions of the spine and has particular experience in treating nerve compression causing arm or leg pain, spinal injuries and metastatic spinal cord compression. His practice includes spinal injections, minimally invasive spinal surgery, decompression procedures and discectomies, focal spinal fusion, cervical disc replacement, facet joint replacement, and laser and percutaneous disc surgery.
Mr Ahmed is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is registered with the General Medical Council.

Mr Ahmed explained my situation and the options available, he was patient and kind and listened. He diagnosed a protruding disc which was causing all the pain in my leg. I have completed my treatment now, 2 injections into my back, and will definitely return to Mr Ahmed if further treatment is needed. Highly recommended
