Mr Ashim Mannan

Mr Ashim Mannan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Ilford, having been appointed to the role in 2023. He trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas Medical School, where he also obtained an intercalated BSc in Human Anatomy. Mr Mannan completed both his basic surgical and higher orthopaedic training in the Yorkshire Deanery’s competitive run-through program.

After completing his training, he undertook fellowships in hip and knee arthroplasty at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit and Harrogate, working under renowned surgeons Professors Andrew Toms and Nick London. Following a fellowship at Wexham Park Hospital, he worked as a locum consultant before securing his permanent position in Ilford in 2023.

Mr Mannan specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee conditions, with a focus on managing osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. His expertise includes joint preservation and high-functioning joint replacement surgery, including partial and total knee replacements (including complex knee arthroplasty), as well as uncemented and cemented hip replacements (including dual mobility implants). For selected patients, he also offers arthroscopic knee surgery, including meniscal surgery and repair.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Mannan has published extensively on topics related to knee replacement surgery, such as the role of assistive technology and the outcomes of fixed-bearing partial knee replacement surgery. He regularly presents his research findings at national and international meetings and serves as a peer reviewer for several academic journals.
