Dr Anusha Arasu

Dr Anusha Arasu is a highly regarded Consultant Neonatologist, Consultant in Neonatal Medicine, and Paediatrician who specialises in Paediatrics. With a dedicated focus on neonatal care, she serves as the Lead for Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up, ensuring that infants who require extra care receive comprehensive, long-term support. Her clinical practice is defined by a compassionate, family-centred approach, where she actively works to reduce separation anxiety for parents and foster strong emotional bonds between families and their newborn babies.

Her clinical interests span a wide range of neonatal and paediatric services, with a particular emphasis on neonatal neurodevelopment, neonatal intensive care, and complex discharge planning. Dr Arasu has been a key contributor to national clinical guidelines, including co-authoring best practice guides for developmental follow-up, surveillance, and support for children at age four. She has also been actively involved in pioneering digital health initiatives, such as piloting electronic developmental questionnaires to systematically capture parent-reported data on cognitive and language development in young children.

Dr Arasu completed her primary medical training, earning her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She went on to obtain a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) and achieved membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, MRCP(UK). Demonstrating her commitment to the highest standards of paediatric care, she is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH). Additionally, she is an active member of the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) and has served as the Committee Chair for the British Association for Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up (BANNFU), where she continues to lead clinical service and data initiatives.
