About Professor Helen Brough

Professor Helen Brough is a distinguished expert in pediatric allergy and clinical immunology, renowned for her excellence in both research and clinical care. She led the Children's Allergy Service at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, from 2015 to 2023. Currently, she continues to co-lead the joint asthma and allergy service, as well as the adolescent allergy service, at Evelina London.

Her clinical specialties include managing eczema, food allergies (including oral food immunotherapy), asthma, hay fever, sublingual inhalant immunotherapy, and eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. Professor Brough has co-authored groundbreaking studies on food allergy prevention and is a principal investigator in the Pronuts and SEAL studies. She has also contributed significantly to oral and patch peanut desensitization trials. • Walnut
  • Hazelnut
  • Brazil nut
  • Almond

She also serves as a medical advisor for the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation. Her contributions to the field have earned her numerous accolades, including the 2020 Distinguished Clinician Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

As a mother of a child with eczema and allergies, Professor Brough empathizes with the concerns of parents and allows for extended appointment times, ensuring that families never feel rushed. We first visited Dr Brough in 2023 when our daughter presented with an ongoing croup cough which wouldn't stop unless medicated with Oral Steroids. Dr Brough was the first person who actually listened to our concerns and ordered tests to begin figuring out what is wrong. She 'got the ball rolling' for us and we will forever be grateful to her and her team.

Helen was excellent, as parents with severe allergy we were both understandably concerned when our son developed an allergy to egg. Helen carried out allergy testing and recommended a treatment plan.
