Andy is the lead clinician for cataract surgery at University Hospitals Dorset, where he has been an NHS Consultant since 2018. In addition to his NHS post, he has been in private practice across Dorset and Hampshire since 2020. He is the only Consultant in Dorset to perform refractive laser vision correction.

Andy qualified as a doctor in 2009 at the University of Southampton, and went on to gain several postgraduate qualifications, including a distinction in the PG Diploma in Refractive and Cataract Surgery from Ulster University, where he is now a Visiting Professor. 

During his training, he undertook Fellowships at University Hospital Southampton and the Lions Eye Institute in Western Australia, as well as training in complex cataract surgery, iris reconstruction and laser eye surgery in Toronto, Cincinnati and Bangalore. 

Andy is also an active member of the research and teaching community, where he is well respected for training junior eye surgeons. His research is dedicated to improving patient outcomes in eye surgery, and he has published over 20 peer reviewed papers. He sat on the Council of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) from 2022-2025, and is often invited to give lectures nationally and internationally.
