Dr Alison Hunter-Smith

Dr Alison Hunter-Smith is a highly skilled Consultant Breast Surgeon and General Surgeon dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centred surgical care. Specialising in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, she provides tailored surgical management for individuals presenting with both benign breast conditions and breast malignancies. Dr Hunter-Smith is committed to achieving optimal clinical outcomes while prioritising reconstructive options and long-term quality of life for her patients.

In her daily practice, Dr Hunter-Smith focuses on advancing surgical techniques to deliver precise, aesthetically conscious cancer treatments. Her clinical work encompasses oncoplastic wide excision, therapeutic mammoplasty, and targeted axillary dissection, as well as comprehensive reconstructive procedures. She holds a dedicated interest in the care and psychosocial support of young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr Hunter-Smith earned her Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours and her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees from The University of Nottingham Medical School, qualifying in 2008. She subsequently completed her foundation, core, and higher surgical training in the South West of England. To refine her expertise, she undertook an international research fellowship examining breast cancer care, as well as a prestigious National Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Training Fellowship in Liverpool. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in General Surgery and an active participant in regional and international clinical advisory bodies.
