Dr. Afshan Khaja is an experienced Urogynaecology Consultant with over a decade of dedicated service within the NHS. She is passionate about improving women’s quality of life, specialising in the management and treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Her patient-centred approach focuses on providing safe, effective, and individualised care tailored to each woman’s needs.
A key strength of Dr. Khaja’s practice is her ability to offer surgical solutions to women who may previously have been considered medically unfit for surgery due to complex health conditions. By performing selected procedures under local anaesthesia, she expands treatment options for patients who might otherwise have limited choices. She has particular expertise in urinary incontinence surgery using a patient’s own tissues, with a strong emphasis on avoiding mesh whenever possible.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Khaja is deeply committed to medical education. She serves on the national interview panel for Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees, contributes as a Part 3 MRCOG examiner, lectures third-year medical students at Birmingham Medical School, and examines fourth-year students.
Dr. Khaja is also actively involved in charitable initiatives in Pakistan and plans to extend her work to India, while regularly speaking at community events across Birmingham.

A friend recommended Mrs Khaja and I'm so pleased she did! Mrs Khaja is professional, knowledgeable and most of all listens and shows empathy. From start to finish the diagnosis has taken 2 months. I'd still be waiting for an NHS appot if I hadn't have gone down the private route.
Good manner and explanation but would have liked to have been given info leaflet or guidance rather than be told to research myself
Mrs Khaja seen me due to lower abdominal and lower back pain. She listened to my symptoms and history and took time and care to ensure all necessary steps were taken to find the root cause. The care I have received has been excellent, her caring bedside manner put me at ease and I trust Mrs Khaja with the guidance she has provided. Thank you
Mrs Khaja made me feel very reassured and put me at ease straight away. I am relieved to have found a doctor who has made me feel they will get to the cause of my pain and discomfort
My experience with Mrs Khaja was amazing from beginning to end. She was kind, compassionate, and professional throughout, making the entire process feel comfortable and well-supported. I’m truly grateful for the care and attention she provided and would highly recommend her.
Mrs Khaja was very friendly, knowledgeable and clear in her explanation.
Very professional

Thank you.
Had my initial consultation on the 27th January and Dr Khaja was very welcoming and friendly and put me at ease. She listened and explained the operation to me. I was booked in for my operation on the 8th march. I couldn’t believe I’d been booked in so quick. The day of my surgery Dr Khaja came to see me and checked on me and explained what was going to happen. Made the whole experience as good as it could be.

Thanks for taking time to write this review.
