Dr. Afshan Khaja is an experienced Urogynaecology Consultant with over a decade of dedicated service within the NHS. She is passionate about improving women’s quality of life, specialising in the management and treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. Her patient-centred approach focuses on providing safe, effective, and individualised care tailored to each woman’s needs.
A key strength of Dr. Khaja’s practice is her ability to offer surgical solutions to women who may previously have been considered medically unfit for surgery due to complex health conditions. By performing selected procedures under local anaesthesia, she expands treatment options for patients who might otherwise have limited choices. She has particular expertise in urinary incontinence surgery using a patient’s own tissues, with a strong emphasis on avoiding mesh whenever possible.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Khaja is deeply committed to medical education. She serves on the national interview panel for Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees, contributes as a Part 3 MRCOG examiner, lectures third-year medical students at Birmingham Medical School, and examines fourth-year students.
Dr. Khaja is also actively involved in charitable initiatives in Pakistan and plans to extend her work to India, while regularly speaking at community events across Birmingham.

**An exceptional doctor** Mrs Khaja is an amazing, kind and compassionate doctor who made me feel completely comfortable and at ease throughout my experience. Having a vaginal hysterectomy can understandably bring a lot of anxiety, but she made the whole process feel so stress-free and reassured me every step of the way. Her professionalism, kindness and genuine care made such a difference to me. I felt listened to, supported and in very safe hands throughout. I would highly recommend Mrs Khaja to any patient looking for a wonderful, caring and highly professional doctor. I am so grateful for the care I received and could not have wished for a better doctor.
I was suffering from a Stage 4 Prolapse which was affecting me both physically and mentally . I needed an operation asap which Mrs Khaja recognised immediately. I had continuous UTI which could not be cleared up by the antibiotics I was receiving from my doctor. Mrs Khaja knew that this problem was being caused by the prolapse and she was worried the infection would go to my kidneys so an operation was the only answer. She carried out the operation successfully and gave me my life back.
Mrs. Khaja consistently demonstrates an approachable, professional demeanor and takes the time to truly understand your concerns.
She was very kind and caring towards my mother. We really appreciated her warmth and support during the appointment. Thank you for looking after her so well.

Thanks a lot for taking time to write a review.
Operation for total abdominal hysterectomy the reason for going private was due to waiting four years on the NHS. My fibroids were really big. I now know from the surgery that just one of the fibroids weighed two stone due to the size of the fibroids. This really affected me physically and mentally and was affecting my quality of life so I made the decision to meet with the team at Spire to have my operation.

Thanks for your review. I am glad you are doing well.
