First IVF & Day Surgery Center - Dubai
Fertility Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, + 1 more
I genuinely believed the FIRST IVF team would care for their patients throughout this journey, but unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
1. **Payment confusion before my FET**
Before my FET, we had already paid AED 62,000 for our treatment. However, we were suddenly informed that we needed to pay more. When we asked for a breakdown of the charges, we were only provided with invoices totaling approximately AED 27,000, which did not explain the difference.
What was most disappointing was the timing. Just 10 minutes before my embryo transfer, with a full bladder, already changed into the clothes and emotionally preparing for one of the most important moments of our lives, I had to discuss outstanding payments with Zahra ( Finance ). This conversation should never happen immediately before such a sensitive medical procedure. It could have easily been addressed beforehand or after the transfer. Zahra was rude, and she was laughing at me, which was very unprofessional.
2. **Conflicting medical advice**
After my FET, the doctor and the nurse Temu gave me different instructions regarding my treatment. As a patient, this left me confused and unsure whose advice I should follow. Doctor said we should continue with injections at the same time, Temu suggested to dnt do any injections and come for consultations.
3. **Lack of communication within the team**
The doctor and the follow-up team were also not aligned. The follow-up team asked me whether I should schedule another appointment, while the doctor clearly instructed me to return only on the second day of my next period. Patients should not receive conflicting information from different members of the same team.
4. **Confusion regarding insurance and payments**
I also received conflicting information from the finance team. They informed me that embryo freezing was not covered by my insurance, while my insurance company confirmed that the clinic had already received a payment, when Zahra said its not covered, it makes us wondering where the money gone and than come back?
5. **Unnecessary stress after the embryo transfer**
The period after an embryo transfer should be as calm and stress-free as possible. Instead, the clinic continued calling and messaging me knowing that after FET, person should rest without stress, they are obviously not aware about it.
Stress is widely recognized as something patients are encouraged to minimize after an embryo transfer, yet the clinic's handling of these issues created unnecessary anxiety at the worst possible time.
6. **Lack of support during a difficult journey**
IVF is already one of the most emotionally and physically challenging experiences a person can go through. During this journey, patients need clear communication, consistency, compassion, and support. Instead, I found myself constantly chasing answers, trying to understand conflicting information, and dealing with administrative and financial issues that should have been resolved internally.
After paying AED 68,000 for treatment during one of the most important and sensitive moments of our lives, I expected a much higher standard of care, communication, and coordination between departments. Instead, I felt like a number rather than a patient.
I have shared my experience because I genuinely hope the clinic improves its communication and patient care. I also hope future patients know what to expect before beginning such an emotional journey, so they can make an informed decision and avoid experiencing the same disappointment and unnecessary stress.
